Better on the right ... when he kicked his knee out it make the composition less of a stick figure in vertical.  It created a triangle.

Hills are great! ... the make people automatically sit gracefully and in traingle poses.  Also, note that the sun is behind him ... and their is lots of depth to the background (much better than a flat green wall of something)

Very nice ... forground, subject, background and infinity ... and visually interesting ... with backlight on the hair and nice shadow definition on the face.  Filled 1/2 stop under the ambient light with the flash.
