The first photo is straight 283 flash ... no highlights and flat

Then we go outside and have the sky to the left and the house to the right ... creating about a 1 stop highlight / shadow ratio.  PERFECT.

They aimed her body towards that shadow on the right ... then pulled her chin around in the opposite direction to the left into the highlight for perfect cross axis posing and short lighting (shooting into the shadow side)
